I’m Tim Pickavance, and this is Becoming Human, where I write to think about Philosophy, Theology, and Culture.

I am Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, and Scholar in Residence at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, CA.

By subscribing, you’ll hear about emotions’ role in epistemology, the history of modern science, and Augustine on the Trinity. Maybe I’ll say something about philosophical research and writing and about life as a philosophy professor in a school of theology. And you might just hear about coffee or whiskey or live music. We’ll see!

I’m writing publicly because I love the church, especially as I can help its members cultivate good thinking, where good thinking means thinking that draws us nearer to God. So while you’re here, I hope to provoke you in ways that prompt a deeper love of God and a longing to be present to Him.
